Samsung Smart Monitor M8 announced with a price tag of $699

Ever wanted a PC monitor which also has smart TV features? well, Samsung has an answer for that with their Samsung Smart Monitor M8. It was first introduced at CES 2022 where it earned CES Innovation Awards Honoree from the CTA (Consumer Technology Association) in recognition of a wide array of its display technologies. Samsung’s Smart Monitor series is a family of the world’s first do-it-all screens designed for modern-day users who demand a product that offers both functionality and entertainment at home

Not only is it a traditional monitor, but also allows users to enjoy a variety of OTT services including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV via Wi-Fi without having to connect to a PC or TV via TizenOS.

The M8 has a 32″ 4K resolution display with a peak brightness of 400 nits, 99% sRGB coverage, and HDR10+. Sadly the monitor only supports a 60Hz refresh rate. The monitor comes in a slim form factor of 11.4mm which as per Samsung is about three-quarters slimmer than the previous models. The M8 also includes a height-adjustable stand (HAS) and tilt functionality.

Out of the box, the M8 comes with an extensive range of useful features including Samsung DeX, Apple AirPlay 2, and Microsoft 365² cloud service. You can also mirror content from your smartphone to the Samsung smart monitor M8. If in need of video call features, in-box Samsung has included a magnetic and removable SlimFit Cam that can attach to the monitor. The SlimFit Cam features Face Tracking and Auto Zoom functions, swiftly identifying a person’s face when on screen and automatically focusing on the subject. Also supported are video calling apps such as Google duo. There is no specific list of all supported apps but Google duo is confirmed to work on the M8.

Other features include WiFi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, 10W speakers, 1 micro HDMI, and 2 USB-C ports including 65W max output charging on connected devices such as laptops and phones.

So far The Samsung smart monitor M8 is available on Pre-order in some countries and will be available in more countries soon. As for the price, the M8 will cost you $699. As for the colors, the M8 comes in Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue, and Spring Green.
