Apple has unveiled its latest lineup of professional displays, introducing the new Studio Display and the all-new Studio Display XDR, designed to serve everyone from everyday users to creative professionals.
The Studio Display XDR is positioned as Apple’s most advanced pro display to date. It features a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR screen with a mini-LED backlight offering 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, and over 2,000 local dimming zones. The display supports wide color gamuts, including P3 and Adobe RGB, promising high contrast, color accuracy, and vibrant imagery. Adaptive Sync allows the refresh rate to dynamically adjust for smooth video playback or graphics-intensive workflows.
The standard Studio Display is equipped with a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, a studio-quality three-microphone array, and a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio. Apple has also upgraded connectivity with Thunderbolt 5, which allows users to daisy-chain up to four displays or connect high-speed peripherals, while two additional USB-C ports support further expansion. The display comes in a 27-inch 5K Retina configuration, with 14 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, and P3 wide color support. Optional nano-texture glass and adjustable stands provide flexibility for professional setups.
Apple says the Studio Display XDR is targeted at creative workflows such as HDR video editing, 3D animation, print and design, and even medical imaging. The display includes new DICOM medical imaging presets and will support the upcoming Medical Imaging Calibrator for diagnostic use once FDA clearance is granted. The XDR model also shares the advanced camera, audio, and connectivity features of the Studio Display, while offering a tilt- and height-adjustable stand for ergonomic setups.
