Apple’s Next Event Set for October 18. Here’s What To Expect.

Apple have announced their next hardware event that will take place on October 18. The company is expected to use this event to launch new MacBooks, a redesigned Mac Mini and probably third-generation Airpods. Last month, the company held an online event which saw the launch of the iPhone 13 series on phones, new iPads and the Apple Watch Series 7.

The invite teases one word: Unleashed, as seen in this tweet from Apple SVP Marketing Greg Joswiak. Rumours have been swirling around for months that Apple will be releasing new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The new MacBooks would be the latest step in the company’s progression away from Intel chips and replacing them with an Arm-based processor called the M1X that Apple designs itself. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the M1X chip has 10 CPU cores compared to the M1’s eight, and graphics processors with 16 or 32 cores compared to 7 or 8 in machines running on the M1 chip.

Rumours also suggest that the same M1X chip will also be featured in the redesigned Mac Mini and will reportedly have more ports than last year’s M1 model. The Airpods are expected to have a similar design to the Airpods Pro with features like Spatial Audio support, a shorter stem, interchangeable ear tips and smaller charging case.

Apple will stream the event on apple.com, YouTube and Apple TV at 8 p.m EAT. TechED will be providing full event coverage.
