Apple sends invites for September 14 Event. What to expect from the biggest tech event of the year.

It’s official. Apple’s next event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14 at 8 p.m EAT. The event dubbed “California Streaming” is the company’s third event of 2021 and it is expected to be Apple’s biggest event of the year. Apple has announced the latest iPhone during a September event every year since the iPhone 5 in 2012, but that changed in 2020 due to production delays in the pandemic.

This year, Apple will return to its September schedule, but the event will be virtual. We’ll finally get to see iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7 and probably the Airpods 3. Apple is also expected to release iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS Monterey and watchOS 8 out of beta to all users. The new OS versions have been in beta since their announcement at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June. You can find the list of eligible devices here.

Apple always drops clues in the invites and in this one, the dark sky may hint at improved night mode photography and the glowing Apple logo may suggest always-on display for the iPhone.

Apple’s first event of 2021 was in April where we saw upgrades to the iPads, new iMacs, Airtags and a purple iPhone 12.

iPhone 13

Apple is rumoured to feature four phones – iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. From the renders, there’s a slight change in the design and we also expect upgraded cameras, battery, high refresh rate screens, a faster A15 chip and faster 5G technology. The phones will come with iOS 15.

Apple Watch Series 7

Apple’s next gen wearable could include new features like a flat-edged design, larger 41mm and 45mm displays – a 1mm bump from the Watch Series 6 – and improvements in battery life. The Watch 7 will come with watchOS 8.

Airpods 3

Rumors suggest the Airpods 3 will have similar features to the Airpods Pro like Spatial Audio support, a shorter stem, interchangeable ear tips and smaller charging case.

Apple may also announce a new version of its processor for the new MacBook Pro. Apple had last year announced they would be producing their own chip, known as the M1, to power their Macs. The new iMac launched in April runs on the M1 processor. We could see an upgrade to the iPad such as a slimmer design and an improved processor. The iPad will come with iPadOS 15. Apple plans to hold multiple events so we’re not likely to see everything announced in September.
