Vivo mobile having been around for quite a while now and recently there main focus in the Kenyan market is into budget and midrange smartphones. Just last month they unveiled there camera centric Vivo V20 which added up to their upper midrange smartphones in Kenya. It is very rare to see them bringing two high end smartphones in Kenya but I hope all that will change.

Today they unveiled a new model, the Vivo Y20s which has some slight improvements from the Vivo Y20 we reviewed last year. You can check out the video here.

Vivo Y20s Specifications

The phone has a 6.51 inch 720p resolution Halo view display with a water drop notch cutout to house the selfie camera. This helps the phone to achieve 81.6% screen to body ratio.

Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC same processor used on the Vivo Y20. Android 10 based Funtouch 11 is pre-installed out of the box. The Funtouch OS is also an UI i liked since it is very close to stock android interface but as i write this, Vivo are preparing to release a new UI globally called Origin OS that will power their next phones and also their old phones will be upgraded.

The Vivo Y20s has 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage, an improvement from what the basic Y20 came with. There is also a 6GB and 8GB RAM variant which will not be available locally.

To the photography department, the phone has a triple camera rear layout housing a 13MP f/2.2 + 2MP f/2.4 and 2MP f/2.4. The rear camera can shoot up to 1080p@30fps. The front has a 8MP f/1.8 which can shoot up to 1080p@30fps

All this is powered by a 5000mAh battery which can take you more than a day when fully charged and if in need of juicing up, you can enjoy a the 18W fast charging supports.

Security wise, their is a side mounted fingerprint scanner embedded on the power button for easier unlocking and if its not enough for you you have an option for the face unlock features although I wouldn’t advice that at all.

Vivo Y20s price and availability

The latest in the Y series phones from Vivo will be available countrywide starting today and it is priced at Kshs 20,999 and the colors to chose from are Obsidian Black or Purist Blue.

What do you think about the Vivo Y20s in the comment section below? Is it worth it?
